The castle of Zlenice was founded after 1300 on a rocky promontory, below which the Mnichovický Brook flows into the Sázava River. The name Zlenice is first mentioned in 1318, when Oldřich of Zlenice is mentioned. The castle was named after the extinct settlement of Zlenice, which lay on the other bank of the Sázava. However, the foundation of the castle in its present form can be definitely placed in the first half of the 14th century.
We invite you to visit the Velkopopovice brewery, which has been standing close to Prague for more than 140 years. The first batch was brewed in the brewery founded by Prague industrialist Baron Ringhoffer in December 1874. Since 1999, the Velké Popovice brewery has been part of Plzeňský Prazdroj, a.s.
The memorial is actually the summer villa of the Lada family, built by Josef Lada in the 1930s. In the 1960s, Mrs. Alena Ladová - Vránová donated this building to the state so that a Josef Lada museum could be established here. Since 1986, the Josef Lada Memorial has been managed by the museum - today the Regional Museum Prague - East based in Brandýs nad Labem, whose founder is the Central Bohemia Region.
There is no doubt that the railway influenced importantly the whole region of the Sázava Basin, mainly as concerns its economy. It is even very hard to imagine what would the life in here look like if the railway was not here. There are still many places along the Sázava River that are inaccessible otherwise than by train. Building of the Posázavský Pacifik railway was initiated towards the end of the 19th century. Except for its short segment from Prague-Vršovice to Prague-Modřany, was the whole of the railway from Modřany, through Davle, along the Sázava River up to Světlá nad Sázavou built at the turn of the 19th and 20th century.
The chateau is originally a Renaissance building with a square ground plan from the 16th century, with a significant Baroque modification and extension carried out in the 18th century and a new Classicist façade from the 19th century. In front of the chateau is a Baroque sculpture of St. John of Nepomuk, also by Ignác František Platzer. The chateau is surrounded by a chateau park.
